Opex Frequently Asked Questions

Who do we contact for provisioning issues?

Click here or call to report any issues.

What are the billing increments?

Calls made on residential accounts are measured (and billed) in 60/60 (60 second minimum then 60 second increments thereafter). Business accounts are billed in 6 second increments with an 18 second minimum.

What are the charges for toll free numbers?

$2.00 a month for the first line and $0.53 a month for each additional toll free line.

How long should provisioning take?

Please allow 4 to 10 days for the switch-over to take effect.

How will I know if I'm switched to OPEX?

OPEX is one of the best provisioning companies of long distance service in the country. You will receive an email from OPEX Communications when you make your first call on our network as a thank you and verification that you are on our service. If any problems occur while your account is being provisioned, you will be quickly contacted by an OPEX provisioning representative. You may also visit our customer services site at http://www.myopexinfo.com if you have further questions.

Is there a minimum usage fee?

Yes. For residential customer, if your monthly usage is less than $20, there will be a $2 minimum usage fee. For Business customer, if your monthly usage is less than $50, there will be a $4.99 minimum usage fee.

Does OPEX offer calling cards?

Yes. The rate is $.149 per minute. There is no connection charge, however there is a $0.35 surcharge when used from a payphone. There is a $.99 set up fee per card.

How do I use OPEX Telecommunications Relay Service?

Please visit our two TRS customer service sites: Regular Dial Instructions | Toll Free Instructions (MS Word).

How do we offer such low rates?

OPEX is a carrier. We buy our network in bulk from a large nationwide network provider called Global Crossing. Since we buy in such bulk, our rates are deeply discounted. We do not have the high advertising costs of a major carrier, so we pass along the savings to our customers. It also allows us to spend our money to provide better service.

How does the 100 Free Minutes work?

You will receive up to 100 free state-to-state minutes on your sixth month?s bill. If you make less than 100 minutes of 1+ interstate long distance calls, we will only credit you the amount of minutes you actually used, up to but not more than 100 minutes.

Does OPEX offer Account Codes (PACs)?

Yes. They offer both verified and non-verified Product Account Codes (PACs).

Do you offer toll free service from Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii?

Yes. We offer inbound toll free service from Canada (26.1 cents/min), Alaska (36.8 cents/min), and Hawaii (24.5 cents/min). When you order toll free service, you will need to indicate that your wish to have extended area coverage.
